With full conviction

In every hotel, there are countless points of contact with the environment. A sustainably managed hotel, for example, attaches importance to an ecological power supply and optimised water use.

Our hotels offer regional food at the breakfast buffet, encourage guests to travel in public, lend e-bikes and show how upcycling works with their furnishings. We act ecologically out of conviction – and not because it is trendy.

Sustainability must be genuine and felt at every level. That is our claim. To ourselves and to all our members.

We attach great importance to the same quality standards of our members so that the guest can rely on the quality of our name.

Due to the now obscure number of quality seals and awards, our criteria and the verification of these are very strict. This is the only way we can ensure quality for ourselves and our guests. Your good night’s sleep is therefore guaranteed.

We document the degree of sustainable implementation and management with the number of green pillows. We have set the following ten criteria as a minimum standard for admission:

1) An up-to-date sustainability concept with a corresponding management and action plan is in place. This is regularly documented and publicly accessible.

2) At least one official certification as a sustainable company.

3) Member houses commit to exemplary employee management and involve their employees in the green corporate philosophy.

4) Compliance with ILO core labour standards.

5) Use / own generation of the required energy, for cooling/heating energy generation from renewable sources.

6) Purchase of electricity from at least 90% renewable energy sources.

7) Use of regional and certified organic food.

8) Member houses have a waste management concept with defined reduction targets.

9) Member houses are committed to land use in accordance with local laws and to the protection of local culture and nature.

10) Each member establishment must have at least two of the required three ratings on the internet:

- Booking.com > 8,0
- Tripadvisor > 4.0
- Holiday Check recommendation rate > 90%

In addition, our criteria catalogue consists of 70 further criteria from the areas of social commitment, energy, water, waste, cleaning/hygiene, food, mobility, buildings/equipment/exterior and management & communication. The catalogue forms the basis for the awarding of our cushions, which is linked to the percentage fulfilment of the criteria. If all criteria are met and documented, the respective business is awarded five green cushions.
