- Toilet flushing and garden irrigation is operated by a rainwater system (that saves 3 million liter of drinking water annually)
- A biomass boiler plant using wood chips effectuates an annual CO2-reduction of one million.
- Energy-efficiency – Low-temperature heating and cooling systems via mass and baseboard heaters, window and door contacts, a special control engineering with visualization as well as LED lamps support us saving energy.
- Organically certified haute cuisine since 1994, we are awarded the “Grüne Haube” (Green toque) since 1992 and our fruits garden is organically certified since 1992.
- Plastic-free seminar settings – The sparkling water from our Retter spring is bottled in glass containers and metal coolers. The savings of these costs of goods pass into the charity project “Water for Africa”
- Environmental-friendly, free of charge pick-up service for our guests – We offer a free pick-up service from the train or bus station to guests who are staying more than two nights. We drive a Mercedes Sprinter with blue efficiency-technology which has extremely low fuel consumption and therefore reduces the impact of CO2 on the environment.
- Our pick-up service for seminar groups of 15 and more, who are staying a minimum of three nights, is also free of charge. We drive to Graz and Vienna in our environment-friendly busses (Euro 6 motor) from Retter Reisen which are awarded with the Austrian Eco-label.
- Solar lamps at the parking area also help us saving energy.
- Kitchen herbs are cultivated on the roofs.
